LT. GOV. O’BRIEN TO VISIT FOWLER FOR SUSTAINABLE MAIN STREETS INITIATIVE [See PDF Flyer]
Lt. Gov. Barbara O’Brien and Department of Local Affairs Executive Director, Susan Kirkpatrick will visit the town of Fowler – one of four Colorado communities taking part in the state’s Sustainable Main Streets Initiative – next week to talk with residents and local leaders about their ideas for economic development and redesigning their downtown.
Fowler is a rural community of just over 1,100 people located in the Arkansas River Valley in southeastern Colorado, about 30 miles east of Pueblo.
From 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, Lt. Gov. O’Brien will visit the Fowler Senior Center, take a walking tour of downtown and participate in a community forum to advance Gov. Bill Ritter’s Sustainable Main Streets Initiative. Along with Fowler, Rifle, Monte Vista and Denver’s Five Points neighborhood are also taking part in the Main Streets pilot program, which aims to enhance the sustainability of downtown corridors.
The first meeting in Fowler will take place at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Fowler Senior Center, 208 6th St. The community forum will start at 2 p.m. at Fowler Elementary School, 601 W. Grant Ave., Fowler.
The Case for the Rehabilitation of Park School
The rehabilitation of Park School will fill an immediate, urgent, practical and direct need to house the municipal offices of Town Hall, severely constrained by lack of space, and unable to adequately serve its public duties; the Police Department, moved to a temporary location due to flooding and security problems; and the Fowler Public Library, moved to a temporary location due to flooding and mold. Great news – Fowler’s code book is online!
The Fowler, Colorado Municipal Code, originally published by Book Publishing Company in 1982, has been kept current by regular supplementation by Matthew Bender & Company, Inc., its successor in interest.
This code is organized to make the laws of the town as accessible as possible to town officials, town employees and private citizens. Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with some of the important elements of this code.
In accordance with the planning policy elements of C.R.S. 31-23-206, Master Plan, the Town of Fowler held a public hearing before the Planning and Zoning Board on January 22, 2009 at the Fowler Elementary School, All Purpose Room, at 6 p.m. A public meeting of the Town Trustees will be held on February 9, 2009 at the Fowler Town Hall at 6 p.m. to adopt the plan by ordinance.
Fowler’s Comprehensive Plan establishes a vision for future land use, growth and development through the establishment of goals, specific objectives, actions and timeframes.
Copies of the plan are available at the Town Hall, and Public Library. You can also download a PDF file of the Plan Here (note: this is an extremly large 5.5 Mb file recommended for those with broadband or high speed internet access):
